ELI Founder Dear Partners in Ministry, I am very glad to have this opportunity to introduce myself to you. My name is Don Rogers and I am the founder and director of Empowering Lives International. In the early spring of 2002, Stormie Sheldon, her husband, Dr. Paul Newman, and I were introduced to each other through a mutual friend. Right away we all knew that it was a divine appointment; God planned for our two ministries to connect. Empowering Lives International (ELI) is a Christian non-profit organization dedicated to helping people, in impoverished countries, recognize their importance in the eyes of God and to breaking the cycle of poverty that chokes out the potential and hope for a better life physically and spiritually. Precious people in the villages, pastors, and countless Christians are suffering in East Africa. Our aim is to empower people with the skills, resources and training, which will lead them to self-reliance and dignity. As a Christian organization, we care deeply about the spiritual condition of all people and work closely with evangelical leaders and churches in the countries we serve. One of the dynamic ways ELI works to help empower the people of East Africa is through our Livelihood Projects. We currently have over 120 families in village's making hand-made envelopes, cards, and other paper products through ELI's Paper Project. This project allows impoverished families to earn a reliable income, provide for some of their families everyday needs, and receive encouragement and equipping from our training center staff. In turn, all this will lead the family to a deeper walk with Christ and further ideas, which will help the poor help themselves. We have now made these products available in the States so we can continue to empower more and more people as they work themselves out of poverty. As Stormie and I talked about a possible partnership, we realized that we share a deep desire to see people's lives touched by God in and through empowerment. ELI is excited to partner with Stormie by allowing her to sell our livelihood projects through her ministry. Please know that we are not soliciting offerings or monthly support for ELI. These are point of sale items and all the profits made by ELI because of these products go directly back to the families in East Africa. We are excited to see what God has planned as Stormie and Paul and Empower Lives International work together to spread the news of Jesus' love and grace.
