About ELIWho we are...Our mission is: "To empower the poor and oppressed spiritually, physically, and economically that they may be able to know, worship and serve God without hindrance, and to motivate and involve others worldwide to invest their lives and gifts in this same mission." What we do...Empowering Lives International is a Christian non-profit organization dedicated to helping people in impoverished countries recognize their importance in the eyes of God and to breaking the cycle of poverty that chokes out the potential and hope for a better life physically and spiritually. ELI has established two Skills for Life Training Centers in Kenya and has expanded the work to reach lives in Tanzania and the Congo. Our aim is to empower people with the skills, resources and training, which will lead them to self-reliance and dignity. As a Christian organization, we care deeply about the spiritual condition of all people and work closely with evangelical leaders and churches in the countries we serve. As a faith based organization we partner with people from all walks of life who support our work through prayer, financial investments, and personal involvement on short term ministry teams. How we do it...We believe true development does not begin with quick answers but rather in dialogue and discovery of who the people are, what they feel are their greatest concerns, and what resources they already have in their land, hands, hearts, spirits, and minds. ELI's projects, as opposed to handouts, are not a quick and easy process, but the fruit from them is lasting and transferable. The unique ministry of ELI has proven itself to be practical, productive, meaningful, and has become a vital ministry involving gifted people from around the nation. ELI continues to include an ever widening circle of people who see the importance of empowering the poor and leading them to eternal hope in Christ. |
